To ME or not to ME

During the previous decade there has arisen an assertion that millions of people have experienced a "memory phenomenon" wherein they remember facts, events, visual presentations which are not substantiated by an historical review of what the vast majority of people both remember and now today see.

Simple differences can be shown in whether or not there is an apostrophe in a brand name, an "s" at the end of a celebrity's name, a word or two different in a title or movie dialog. The most elaborate difference claimed by various persons is whether the Presidential motorcade limousine in which JFK was assassinated has/had two rows of seats or three. The emotional attachment a person has to his experience and his explanation for how it came to be makes much of their testimony suspect.

Even though there IS a physical mechanism for how the past might become altered and for there to be convergences of quantum realities, much of that has been put forth as evidence has little probability of being accurate.  Many claimants say proof of their experiences and recollections are accurate. One only has to cite examples of errors which are not Mandela Effect related to show most of the examples fall in the "not ME" category. One of the hallmarks of a compelling ME example is there is zero physical evidence to point to. If there are such artifacts those artifacts can be attributed to raising the confusion in the first place.

Compelling ME examples are the VW logo, the Volvo logo and the Red hat/bandanna of Springsteen's Born in the USA album. In the latter example the hat is highly unusual since Bruce did not use such a hat in his personal image but did use a red bandanna.
Advertisers have used the phrase "feeling ones oats" to signify the vitality a person will get if they breakfast on their cereal. That phrase has been around a long time and has gained a meaning of its own apart from the original words "fielding ones (wild) oats."  Its meaning and usage is not appropriate for oat cereal products. To most people reading this blog post the "feeling" variant is the only one they ever herd and the reference to springtime reproductive rites is unknown. The change took place was and propagated so widely that the original phrase is mostly unknown. It is highly unlikely that "feeling" would ever be altered to be "fielding."

Here is another phrase to consider. It's a"tough road to hoe."  Why is it a road with a hoe? how many people hoe a road? Well even though common usage had made it a road the phrase is "row to hoe" as in farming or gardening in dense hard-packed soil. Similarly to the previous example in is highly unlikely a road reference would ever become a farming reference.

The English language is a highly volatile and flexible one where nuances can be made with the sweep of a pen, words sound similar and most people do not practice diction to a high degree. Graphic designers love to make unique and memorable messages by altering some small part of the images and text. Therefore, unusual spellings are not that unusual.

If the "real original" name and spelling was Berenstein Bears it would be highly improbable people would gloss over the spelling and come up with Berenstain by accident.  The converse is not equally probable.

A subset of people reporting ME experiences also impute that they are from an alternate timeline of the Earth. Their observation is of such things as continental positioning. In particular South America seems to now be about a thousand miles further east than they remember it being located. Neglecting cartographers' variations the continents do move. South America did diverge from Africa and move westward to where it is today. Tectonic pressures are are now pushing it eastward again. For an alternate timeline explanation to hold true, both variations must have been possible but differently manifest. Internal Earth pressures did likely place the South American continent in each of the reported positions. A spurious event would necessarily have at some date in the multi-million years ago past happened or not happened to result in the position of today. For those people the alternate timeline hypothesis holds at least some water.

The other big geological example is the alleged land mass west of Australia. While some people have a "recollection" of such a place, they have no name for it or and physical description of its character. There is no unemerged sub-sea formation which alternate time references would either create or suppress its rise to dry land in the region. For their supposition to hold any validity we need to elevate their hypothesis from mere alternate timeline to a completely different manifestation of Earth itself.

There is no consistency yet for what the ME actually is:

1. Illusion
2. Wishful-thinking
3. Manipulated memory
4. Erroneous memory
5. A timeline phenomenon
6. Converging realities
7. Alteration of the past
8. Some even more exotic cause

My opinion is #7 by a combination of natural and man-made causation.

Quantum Heaven

Quantum Heaven

Here is a huge question to spur the minds of deists and atheists alike. Is there a quantum universe where there is a god and another where there is no god? The mathematics suggest many universes are in existence somewhere where we can't right now see them. Were any of them or all of them created by a god or did they all come into being spontaneously?

Heaven

This one is for the people who believe in Heaven.  People who merely believe in an after-life of some sort or another can add in their views on a parallel posting in this blog. Just now I am looking for what people believe about that place where some people end up after they die.

Hell is a concept of anti-heaven where the deserving of hellish treatment is meted out for eternity as punishment for acts committed in this physical world we are sitting in right now.

The questions posed here for an answer are these: 

1.        What does the landscape of Heaven look like?
2.        What will you be wearing?
3.        What will you be doing for the Eternity you will be there?

There are hundreds of other questions to answer about the nature of Heaven and the character of the people who will populate the place. Those questions will be posed if this first batch of questions receives a sufficient number of replies to warrant moving on to more involved questions.

A more scientific premise of Heaven is that it is a quantum reality in which we already exist but do not know it because of the bright, warm and noisy world we live in now. The fact is all the stars that are visible at night are up there shiny down on the earth all day too. We just cannot see them.

Retroactive Event Modification

The more time that goes by brings an ever increasing number of possible examples of alterations of the past. Skeptics chalk the phenomena to "misremebering" while others call it the Mandela Effect. 

Some people suggest the past is being changed by Time Travelers from our future who either make these silly changes for unknown reasons or the observed changes are merely artifacts of a larger change that has gone unnoticed. I previously suggested the 2000 Presidential Election was way too easy to flip and nobody ever suggested it was the result of a REM (Retroactive Event Modification.) All one had to do was influence ballot design in Florida.

The ballot had been redesigned earlier that year by Theresa LePore (Supervisor of Elections, and member of the Democratic Party). She said that she used both sides of the ballot in order to make the candidate names larger so the county's elderly residents could more easily see the names.^{[30] Wikipedia}

As Secretary of State for the State of Florida, Katherine Harris made decisions which ultimately made George w Bush the President. 537 votes made the difference.

If one wanted to alter the outcome of that election to make it the way we remember, or to even stop the George W Bush Administration, there is the pivot point to target.

Skeptics of time travel say it is impossible. One of the main objections is that the Earth is nowhere near where it was what anything happened in our past. The other objection is the alleged amount of energy it would take to accomplish the task. Yet another is all the paradoxes which might arise in making a trip.

Romantic allusions of actually visiting a former time and place being set aside for the moment, there is another way the past can change without the need for time travel. A large and/or exotic energy wave propagating outward in all dimensions would necessarily travel in an XYZ and -X, -Y and -Z. also it would travel it the T and -T dimension too. All waves of similar composition interfere constructively and destructively with each other. 

The matter and energy of what we see as reality were influenced by all energy waves up to the moment we are looking at that reality. The energy of a backward moving wave would also shape what we have always known to be an immutable past.

Creation, In 6 Days 

I was pecking at a spill of taco salad next to a bench in the plaza at Market Square. Two guys were sitting at opposite ends of the bench arguing about how this whole world came to be. The guy with the white shirt and bowtie kept saying that a god made it all in 6 days while the guy in the blue tee-shirt said it came into existence all by itself. I've never seen this god nor does it seem logical that it just popped into existence either. Both remained unconvinced that what the other said had any merit at all whilst I thought they both were majorly deceived.  Their argument digressed into name calling and insults to the intelligence of people who thought like themselves.  Actually, I mean "the other." It got me thinking about how I would make a world like this one, and do it in 6 days.

I was surprised by just how much thinking is actually inside this tiny head of mine. Brain size doesn't seem to have any relationship to how smart it is or how much intelligence it has. I started getting this idea in my head and it needed to get out soon if it was not to make it explode.

This plan is Highly Intelligent Design and can easily be accomplished by anyone with a high school education and a Time Machine. First we have to believe in education and that it is useful.

Here is the Steps of Creation that can be done in six Solar Days. Strap on your thinking caps and free your mind. Mine is quite small and consists of a bit of cloth I found on Excelsior Street. On Monday morning, get your coffee and Danish (off the sidewalk as for me), and step into your time machine. Set your destination coordinates for a cluster of asteroids and a temporal displacement of 10 million years in the future. It is important to move into the distant future so that nothing you do will accidentally make your discovery of time travel impossible or yourself for that matter. Ten million years hence is a reasonable safety buffer.

When you get there you merely bump a few asteroids together so that their collective gravitational pull will keep the aggregation going. Then get out of the way and go home. Back in your basement apartment you have the rest of the day to lounge around and listen to Pink Floyd and Nirvana since you set the temporal coordinates to return 10 minutes after you departed. Me, I'd go and enjoy a good laugh at the nuts at the Coo-coos' Nest.

On Tuesday afternoon after you get up and remedy that hangover from the night before, you make the plan for Day Two. On this day you jump into your time machine, well okay, stumble into your time machine and set the coordinates for the cluster of asteroids you started in the location it will be when you get there 510 million years in your normal future. I did say you could do this with a high school education, didn't I? Well the time machine has all the computing power to figure out the XYZ coordinates and temporal displacements.

When you get there you see what has become of your initial actions. The glob of asteroids is quite large now and the ice chunks in the galaxy have made clouds above the surface and the surface has gotten cooler and solid. The process is going well so you can just go home and goof off the rest of the day.

Wednesday is the seminal day in your Plan of Creation. 500 million more years in the future you go there with a sack of seeds. Included are acorns, buckeyes, ginko pods, wheat, marsh grasses and a whole lot of varieties of weed. As you pass over the fledgling planet you scatter your seeds in every crevice. Extremely tired and in want of a cigarette you go home and sleep until the sun goes down and you wonder just what time is really is and wonder does anybody really know what time it is.

On Thursday you are already up to Day Four and must get serious. At an aggregate temporal displacement of 1,510 million years you arrive to find the entire planet to be Edenesque and covered by trees, fields of grass and weeds. You see a lot of varieties that you did not bring and realized they all adapted to this world. At this point you dump bags of water from your own world into the seas there on that planet. In it are amoebas, rotifers, plankton, algae, and a couple of guppies. After this long day of activity you sample some of the weeds for their medicinal properties and decide that it is good.

Friday, you decide to blow it off and check out some more varieties of plant life that had evolved since your last visit. This is not really a problem because you can always fix anything in post-production if necessary.

Saturday is the big Sixth Day. You set the temporal displacement to 2.5 billion years in your normal future and jump to the proper galactic position. Upon landing you see that things had gone terribly wrong. There are human-like people all over the place dressed in form-fitting tights and everyone has one color cape or other. They all have neck gills and vestigial fins on the forearms and lower legs. Just then you remember what became of your DC and Marvel Comic books. The guppies had evolved into all sorts of species. Even the cat-like critters had back fins and fish tails. The outcomes of the evolutionary processes were not too strange especially "missing link" examples that were mermaid like females who still swam in the estuaries and continually beckoned you to come in for a swim. I think there would be 6 foot pigeons who could converse in English, of course, and actually had something to say.

You stay longer this trip than you usually did but that didn't seem to be a problem for some reason. On your way home at the end of the day, just before sundown, you go back to your Thursday time and place and collect your forgotten comic books. This method of fixing your mistake is far more humane than drowning everyone and starting over. Besides, attempts to drown all the descendants of guppies would probably fail anyway.

Sunday, you go again to the 2.5 billion year mark just to see if your micro fix was effective. Oh, horrors!

Hey, this explanation is no worse than what humans have believed for thousands of years. Besides that, prove me wrong.

Altering the past is no simple undertaking. In trying to establish a desired outcome one must weight thousands of events and decision points. The entire concept of quantum possibilities comes into play when such alterations are planned.

Every great accomplishment in history was preceded by the kernel of thought or accident of discovery leading to the full blown development of a new idea or a new manifestation of change. For example the first male soldier to get kicked in the balls was the impetus for the codpiece. That early development probably spread quite rapidly by word of mouth. On the other hand the invention of the aluminum crotch cup predated the adoption of the football helmet by about 100 years. The point here is that a simple decision grows rapidly when the outcome is considered to be positive.

Anybody wanting to time travel to alter the past would be well advised to look for those seminal points in time and the decisions there which can be modified with the least effort. There are influential people here in this time and place who have not yet attained the ability to time travel but who are nonetheless able to assist with the project from the future.

They are about the business of creating key time points where a simple decision can be flipped to create the future desired outcome. These present-day people do not need to concern themselves with who will ultimately employ the fix or to what ends it will be put. Theirs is only to create the points where the flip can be made.

Consider the 2000 Presidential Election in America. Someone made the decision to use a "butterfly ballot" instead of a straight paper one and the resulting confusion resulted in the confirmation of George W. Bush over Al Gore for President. By providing the rationality for using or not using the ballot design a simple point of decision was established which could be flipped later on if necessary. It was only a quantum fluctuation that needed to be employed since both outcomes equally exist in a quantum space-time.

Not all outcomes are equally weighted when it comes to quanta. Having thought about and actually considering an alternative gains more probability than some random possibility like a hurricane pummeling the precinct where voter turnout needs to be lowered. Men can influence the decision of an elections official far more easily than the trajectory of a major tropical storm.

During the 2016 election season, there had been ad naseum reports of whether Hillary Clinton was or was not guilty of a punishable criminal offense, whether or not she was indictable and whether or not she would be indicted. If she remained the fore running DEM candidate, she would most likely be elected. However, should that victory ever be deemed a negative outcome, all that is needed is to retroactively influence the Attorney's General to move forward with an indictment and quash her Presidency before it ever begins. Literally a flip of a coin and its Heads or Tails orientation could shape the future of this country for the next century. This extra-temporal influence can be implemented at any date after the election and most everyone would not be aware that a tweak had ever taken place.

Thoughts on Swirl Theory

When you go looking for something and do not find it there are a few possibilities to consider:

1. You are looking in the wrong places
2. You are looking for something that doesn't exist
3. You are looking at the wrong time
4. You haven't been looking long enough.
5. You might have overlooked it and are no longer looking where it is
6. You might have assumed you knew what it looked like and ignored it when found
7. What you are looking for might be on the move

There are a few phenomena that by their nature are difficult to grasp and identify. First one is everything you see, hear, smell, taste or touch is the result of an electrical signal from outside your body. The signal is conveyed up and into your brain. There it registers on your consciousness and is felt to be back out where it is first contacted. You do not "feel" the sensation of a pain in your hand or foot but only in your brain. Your brain transfers the sensation back to where you think it originates. The illusion is extremely difficult to ignore.

An example is everything you see with your eyes is about the size of 2 nickels, its curved and upside down. Your brain receives the tiny image data and projects it out into the world and we call it reality. Your eyes have no color receptors for yellow but your see yellow anyway. Red, green and blue are the three receptor types along with grayscale cells.

You can only think about something if you have it in your memory. If a memory is not in the conscious part of your brain you cannot speak about it to tell anyone it is there. If your memory is ever in anyway altered, you have no way to detect the change unless other people contradict your claim of memory.

The Mandela Effect is real, but it is is not fully understood. It might be an illusion. It might be mass hysteria, confirmation bias or some such thing. It might represent an actual alteration of the past by some poorly understood means. Some alleged examples may not be related at all, while other are.

We have no idea how often any part of the past becomes altered since anytime it changes what we see is always the way it was. The concept of a fluid changing past is explored in the article Swirl Theory on the Vulnerable Geometry blog site. Retroactive Event Modification (REM) phenomena is possible and it doesn't require time travelers or intent to make changes. Physicists say such a phenomenon is possible but cannot say that it is a fact mainly because they have never remembered seeing it happen.
