The Lathe of ME

The Lathe of ME
By Peter Wolfe

Someone like George Orr could dream the population of earth to be only 2 maybe 3 billion people and no one has to die. They merely would not exist in the first place. Sadly, that would probably include you and me. If CERN folks or Illuminati had in their agenda to depopulate the earth via Mandela Effects then all they would had to do is effect the past with the disruption of a few well-connected people getting together and having children, like the Duggers. How about that?

In 1550 there was a massive flood in central China. The initial flooding and the resulting famine, disease and displacement killed approximately 20 million people. At a 2% population growth rate since them, if the flood has not taken its toll, the population of China today could be 3.4 Billion people. Every region has an ultimate population supporting capacity so that population probably would never have materialized anyway. But we did not need CERN, reptilian aliens or the Illuminati to conspire to limit the global population in this instance.

BTW the Chinese government is a secretive body and this information about the 1550 flood did not reach the West until after 1970.

Small events can have great impacts. Malcolm Gladwell wrote about the Tipping Point. We also call this the Butterfly Effect. Keep in mind the Great Influenza pandemic in 1918 started with the transmission of Spanish flu viruses from one pig to one human and eventually killed some 20 Million in its wake.

We are all complicit in the shape of the future.
